A refundable key / breakage deposit is payable upon arrival at the resort. The deposit amount is R 1500.00 for Rental Clients, and R 350.00 for affiliated Club Members. Please note that should this fee not be paid, occupancy will not be granted. Please note that the Key and Breakage Fee is payable upon arrival to the Resort directly. This fee is not payable to the Reservation Company, as it is a Resort function. Refund of the Deposit takes up to 7 - 14 workings days. Please note that no pets are permitted. This includes all pets. The following documents will be required when traveling to Botswana with minors (18 years and below): 1. Valid Passport. 2. Valid VISA, if required. 3. Unabridged Birth Certificate (Birth Certificate containing the particulars of a minor and those of the parents). 4. A letter of consent from the other parent should the minor be travelling with one parent. Under the new law, all minors under the age of 18 years will be required to produce, in addition to their passport, an Unabridged Birth Certificate (showing the particulars of both parents) when exiting and entering South African ports of entry. In cases where the Unabridged Birth Certificate is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a sworn translation issued by a competent authority in the country concerned. The lodge currently has three - two bed-roomed self catering units; The chalets are furnished and each has their own en suite bathrooms, hot water showers/bath and flushing toilets. They have a carport adjacent to each chalet and their own braai area and a bonfire pit. They are designed so that guests can enjoy an African Bush experience. The fourth eight sleeper unit is nearing completion. N.B. There is no restaurant or bar at Modumela Lodge. The main complex, a magnificent thatched area overlooks a picturesque dam and is built on top of a kopje, surrounded by modumela trees (white syringa). The complex offers a reception area, manager’s office, lounge with TV and a sundeck which overlooks one of our two dams. Modumela Lodge is in a low risk malaria area. Guests are encouraged to bring insect repellent, simply to ensure their own comfort. FACILITIES IN THE CHALET: We now have electricity from Botswana Power Corporation and a standby generator. Hot water is supplied from an electric geyser. Modumela Lodge has mosquito nets in the rooms. Tea and coffee facilities are provided in your chalet on the day of your arrival. Hand and Bath towels are provided. (Please bring your own swimming towels) Each chalet is fitted with an overhead fan in the lounge and air conditioners in bedrooms. FACILITIES AT MODUMELA LODGE: There is a swimming pool and a volley ball court which guests may use at their leisure. The balls for the volley ball are available from reception. There are also some board games available on request at reception. The water is from a borehole. It is recommended that you only use the water provided in your jug for drinking. All this water is pre-boiled as a precautionary measure. There are credit card facilities at the resort but the system runs on intermittent cellphone signal. Cellphone signal is strongest on the sun deck, but there is no WiFi at the lodge available. KINDLY NOTE: *Check in time is 13:00 to 18.00 hours when our main gate is locked for the night. To assist with housekeeping, guests are requested to vacate their chalets by 10:00 a.m. at the latest on the date of check out. Your co-operation in this respect is appreciated. *You also need to pay third party insurance in Pula at the border post for your vehicle. *If you are not the owner of the vehicle you will also require a certified letter from the owner giving you permission to drive the vehicle in this county. *You need international roaming on your phone or you need to buy a local SIM card as soon as you cross the border. This is needed because Modumela Resort Management have kindly requested that guests travelling by road should call and inform the resort of their impending arrival, when they cross the border into Botswana as cell phone signal is somewhat erratic along the road. This way the resort will know to meet you at the resort’s gates as the gates are kept closed during the day and locked from 18.00 to 06.00 hours daily, for protection of the game on the farm. *Guests are strongly advised to ensure they have adequate medical, personal accident and personal belongings insurance cover. Group Bookings Notice: Please note that should you confirm 2 or more chalets at the same resort, for the same period, that this will be regarded as a Group Booking. Over and above the Standard Terms and Conditions and Resort Rules and Regulations, the below will also apply to all Group Bookings: 1. Before confirming and paying for your Group Booking (2 or more chalets at the same resort, for the same period), it is your responsibility to first contact the relevant Reservations Company to obtain approval from the relevant resort for the Group Booking. Should the resort decline the request for the Group Booking, the reservation will be canceled with immediate effect. Should the resort grant approval for the Group Booking, the relevant Reservations Group will assist with the payment and confirmation of the reservations, and all additional Group Booking Terms and Conditions will be explained. 2. Group Booking gatherings are not permitted in one chalet. No more than the prescribed number of guests per chalet will be permitted in the chalet. 3. Communal / Boma areas / facilities are available at most resorts. Please contact the resort directly after confirming the booking with the relevant Reservations Company, to book the areas for Group Bookings. Please do note that this will be at an additional cost and managed by the relevant resort. 4. No parties / loud music / disruptive / abusive behavior will be tolerated. Non-compliance will lead to immediate eviction at Managements and / or Security’s sole discretion. This decision is final, and the Group will be requested to leave the resort immediately. Should the Group be evicted from the resort, or occupation not permitted, neither the Reservations Company, the Resort, nor the Managing Agent will be liable for any form of compensation / refund. 5. Additional Group Booking forms must be signed by the main member upon arrival at the resort. Should the main member fail to sign the said indemnities, access will be denied, with no compensation / refund given. 6. The Key and Breakage deposit is payable per chalet confirmed, and not per Group.
